Sharpening thinking skills while exploring language patterns
Any creative, language-related topic is welcome!
Language is one of humanity's most remarkable abilities. Through language, we understand one another, record history, tell stories, and drive civilization forward. Linguistics research blends the rigorous analytical methods of natural science with the humanistic empathy of the social sciences — making it a uniquely interdisciplinary field. We invite all middle school students in Taiwan to explore language through their own creative research questions and share their findings with peers.
Investigate language phenomena around you, formulate your own research questions, and experience the joy of linguistic research firsthand.
Present your work as a short research paper and a poster at the conference. Any creative, language-related topic is welcome!
Open to all middle/high school students in Taiwan (including international schools and home-schooled students). Teams of up to 3 students are allowed.
Top 8 finalists will receive qualification for the 2027 Taiwan IOL Selection Round 2, advancing toward the international linguistics olympiad.
